Administrative and Technology Management Programs
Graduation Applications for all BAS programs
Interested in the BAS degree through our
Degree Completion Program?
The Bachelor of Applied Science degree (B.A.S.) offers career advancement opportunities to people who have earned the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), the Associate of Applied Technology (A.A.T.), or other career associate degrees. Students who have earned career associate degrees at Clayton State University or at other regionally accredited institutions can bridge smoothly into the B.A.S. program with little or no loss of credit. To complete the B.A.S. at Clayton State, students will take additional general education classes and advanced courses appropriate to their fields and career interests.
How long will it take me to earn a BAS degree?
The B.A.S. Degree can be earned in four semesters depending on several factors:
Many upper division courses will be offered in a partial online or 100% online format.
The majors in the BAS program prepare graduates to move into supervisory positions in corporate settings, retail environments, manufacturing plants, small enterprises and other businesses. Courses in management, marketing, and accounting help students blend their specific expertise with new managerial skills. The curriculum, which includes experiential learning opportunities, covers vital topics such as management, marketing, personnel relations, professionalism, and quality control.
Both the Administrative Management major and the Technology Management have specialty areas called concentrations. A summary of the specialty for each area is listed below.
Administrative Management Organizational Leadership Concentration prepares students who plan to lead and supervise in small businesses, governmental agencies, sales or corporate environment, including in the area of Human Resources.
Technology Management Aviation Administration Concentration provides students with aviation-specific courses in fleet planning and scheduling, leadership in the aviation industry, airport operations, and aviation labor relations.
Technology Management Computer Networking Concentration provides students with management and supervision abilities while also providing advanced networking skills and advanced routing skills. In addition, studies include converged networks and security and firewall skills.
Technology Management Project Supervision Concentration allows students to prepare for management, supervision, and leadership positions in a technology, plant, or manufacturing environment. In additional, studies include statistical analysis, quality analysis, and project management.
As previously stated students in the BAS degree programs must have a career associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or have completed 38 semester credit hours of career-related courses (and approved by an advisor). Each student must satisfy one of the two career course requirements listed below to be an Administrative Management or Technology Management major. If the student has not met one of the requirements below, he/she will be admitted as a Pre-BAS major.
Upon completion of the career component, the student should submit a change of major request for either Administrative Management or Technology Management.
For questions on the all BAS Concentrations except Aviation Administration, please call Dr. Christie Burton at (678) 466-4636 or email her at christieburton@clayton.edu. For Aviation Administration Concentration, please call Ginny Bass at (678) 466-4098 or email her at ginnybass@clayton.edu.
To determine the courses that will transfer into the BAS program, you will need to apply for admissions at CSU. Once the Registrar's Office has evaluated the transcripts from ALL schools the student has attended, the advisor will review the credits to determine which courses can be applied toward your program of study.
In addition to the career requirement described above and the graduation requirements (see online catalog) for all CSU bachelor graduates, BAS students must pass a Writing Assessment (administered as a separate test prior to Fall 2009 or as a test in TECH 3104 effective Fall 2009 and after). The Writing Assessment is different than the Regents’ Test. In addition, BAS students must earn a grade of C or better (or K) in all upper division courses (numbered 3000 or higher) used to meet program requirements. BAS students must also make a C or higher (or K) in ENGL 1101 and CRIT 1101.
For Residency in the BAS program, the regular University baccalaureate-level requirements require 30 hours in residency including at least 21 in upper division hours counted toward program requirements other than free electives. Although the other nine hours do not have to be upper division for B.A.S. students, those nine hours do have to be in courses that are counted toward program requirements other than free electives.
NOTE: B.A.S. students are not subject to the requirements of the College Preparatory Curriculum but are subject to the Regents’ Test and Legislative requirements. See the Graduation Requirements chapter of the online catalog.
