Change in Name of Major

This major and Bachelor's of Science degree program was previously named Applied Biology.

On October 4, 2002, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia approved a change in name of the major to Biology. The purpose of the name change is to make the degree's name more consistent with similar programmatic offerings in the University System.

No changes to the required curriculum or to graduation requirements of the Applied Biology degree result from the change in name of the major to Biology.

Transcripts of students who graduated during Summer 2002 or before with the B.S. degree in Applied Biology will retain that degree title. Students graduating in December 2002 and later will be awarded a B.S. degree in Biology.

The entry for major in records for students who have not yet graduated will be changed by the Registrar's Office from Applied Biology to Biology. Advisor assignments will not be affected by the name change.
