Mediation Training and Certification – Student Rate
Department of Psychology, SPRING 2008

Once again, the Department of Psychology is offering Basic Mediation Training on campus at a greatly reduced cost to students. This training is required in order to become registered as a certified mediator in the court system in Georgia. The training will occur over four full days and each participant MUST complete all four sessions to be eligible for certification. Each participant’s financial contribution to the training will be $300.00, which covers the four full days of training and all training materials used in the course. The only additional charge is the nominal cost for the textbook for the course (The Mediator’s Handbook by Beer and Stief). Comparable training off campus would cost over $1000.00. The lead trainer, Ms. Ansley Barton, is an extremely experienced consultant, mediator, facilitator, and attorney. For more information about Ms. Barton’s credentials, a description of basic mediation training, and a link to the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, please visit www.ansleybarton.com.

Only 24 participants can be accepted for the training this semester, and the spaces will be allotted on a “first come, first served” basis. To reserve your space, please fill out and detach the form below and submit it with a deposit of $100.00 to Dr. Donna McCarty, Head of the Department of Psychology (G-210D). If Dr. McCarty is not in when you drop off your form and deposit, please have a secretary or other faculty member sign, date, and write the time the form was delivered on the form, seal it into an envelope, and place it into her mailbox. Please note that deposits are only refundable for medical or other serious conflicts and that documentation must be provided for a refund to be given. This rule has become necessary because we have had “no shows” or last minute cancellations for spaces that other students could have taken. Checks will be returned or shredded (student’s choice) for those who put down a deposit but do not receive one of the 24 available spaces. The balance of the payment ($200.00) is due on the first day of training and is required for participation and the awarding of certificates.

All sessions will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end promptly at 5:00 p.m.:
Session I: Fri., March 28 – T-217 Session III: Sat., April 5th – UC 262
Session II: Sat., March 29 – UC 262 Session IV: Sat., April 12th – UC 262

Deposit Checks for $100.00 should be attached to the form below and made out to:
Ansley Barton, L.L.C.
