Hello Clayton State Alumni and Graduating Seniors (Soon to be Alumni)!

As Chair of the Department of Psychology, I would like to invite you to participate in an opportunity to take a leadership role in our new Alumni organization for Arts and Sciences.  As we celebrate our 40th Anniversary, Clayton State University is continuing to grow and change, and so this is also true of the Department of Psychology.  With well over 400 graduates (the largest number of any major in Arts and Sciences), we should have a vibrant group of alumni; I encourage you to join together with your fellow graduates to help create a successful Alumni Association.

I am writing to invite you to become a charter member of this group.  An organizational meeting and dinner (Dutch treat) will be held on Thursday, November 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at The Olive Garden Restaurant, located at 1176 Mt. Zion Road in Morrow.  You will have an opportunity to meet with our Dean of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Nasser Momayezi, and with the Director of Alumni Relations, Mr. Gid Rowell, as well as visit with your fellow alumni from the various Departments of the College.

The agenda will include the election of Officers and Department Coordinators.  The Coordinators will not only work with the Officers in leading the Arts and Sciences Alumni Association, but will also (depending upon the interest of the alumni of the individual Departments) provide leadership for organizing activities for their own Department’s alumni.  We encourage the Association to plan among its first activities an event during Homecoming in late January; alumni in attendance at the November 12 dinner will have initial input in planning this Homecoming event.

I hope you will gather with us for a wonderful evening at The Olive Garden on November 12 and will invite and encourage your fellow alumni to join you.    Also, please consider becoming a part of the leadership of the Arts and Sciences Alumni Association as an Officer or as a Department Coordinator.  You can help create an Alumni Association that will allow the alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences to bond with each other and with the University in a meaningful way.

I am looking forward to seeing you on November 12!

Sincerely,

Dr. Donna McCarty
