Warsaw Wind Quintet with Michiko Otaki, pianist

8th U.S. Tour, February, 2001

The Warsaw Wind Quintet and Michiko Otaki, pianist, have been collaborating since the summer of 1988. Since then they have toured frequently both in Europe and in the U.S., including appearances at such prestigious concert halls as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, the National Gallery in Washington and the Barns of Wolf Trap near Washington, DC. Every one of their tours have met extraordinarily warm responses from both critics and audiences alike. Their extensive tours of Europe have taken the Sextet to Poland, Germany, Switzerland, and the former Czechoslovakia, including performances in Warsaw (at the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall) and Cologne, Germany. They have been heard on National Public Radio's "Performance Today" as well as on a live-broadcast concert over New York's WQXR.

Warsaw Wind Quintet was formed in Warsaw in 1973 by major soloists from the National Philharmonic and Radio Orchestras. The Ensemble has appeared in the U.S., Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the former Yugoslavia, Hungary, the former USSR, and the former Czecho-slovakia. In Munich, Ancona and Colmar the ensemble was awarded various prizes for its work. The Quintet records regularly for Polish RTV and Berlin Radio (RIAS).
