From Kazakhstan by way of Slovakia, and Japan via the USA, come two internationally acclaimed musicians combining their profound artistry to perform joint recitals in the grand tradition. Sonata masterworks of Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms, as well as Russian favorites, put these two beloved artists on equal footing, sharing their mutual and mature musicality to reveal the beauty and import of both instruments in the duo literature. After touring Eastern Europe to resounding success in the summer of 1998, the exciting Jablokov/Otaki duo makes its American recital debut in November, 1999.

Alexander Jablokov was born in Alma-Ata in the former Soviet Union and studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where his artistry was shaped by rigorous training under Olga Kaverzneva, who carried on the tradition of the famous David Oistrach school of violin playing. He also undertook intense chamber music study with the leader of the Shostakovich Quartet, Andrej Shishlov. He now lives in Bratislava (having become a Slovak citizen in 1991), and performed with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra before touring internationally for four years as the first violinist of the Travnicek String Quartet (including appearances in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Charlotte and at Wolf Trap). He toured as soloist with the Cappella Istropolitana as well as with other ensembles, and now also conducts and appears in conjunction with his own chamber orchestra, the Chamber Virtuosi.
