KAM, 9/27/04, Janacek Festival

This superb chamber orchestra from the Moravian region of the Czech Republic makes its North American debut in the fall of 2005, collaborating with renowned pianist Michiko Otaki, with whom they performed at the 2004 Janacek Festival in Luhacovice and the 2005 Landscape of Music Festival in Telc.

Milos Vacek, first violinist of the Janacek Quartet, originally established the Brno Chamber Soloists in the 1990s.  An ensemble of outstanding musicians from Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic, it performed a number of concerts there and in neighboring countries.  In the year 2003 the membership was revised and the violinist Jiri Besperat assumed responsibility for the artistic profile of the orchestra.

The ensemble, with its new personnel, debuted with a performance of Handel's Messiah at the international festival "The Landscape of Music" in the city of Telc.  In January, 2004, the "Year of Czech Music', the orchestra released an all-Czech CD [Myslivecek, Janacek, Suk, and Stedron] through the publisher Gnosis.

The combination of Young vibrant players and experienced members in the first chairs creates a dynamic ensemble which joins musical maturity with youthful enthusiasm.  The orchestra is capable of expanding with double winds, so that it can also include major repertoire of the mainstream Classical period.
