Instrumental Jury Guidelines
First semester, Freshman Year
10 minutes of prepared music to include at least two pieces in contrasting style (technical/legato) or one piece demonstrating these two styles
All major scales and chromatic scale-full range of the instrument
All other semesters
15 minutes of prepared music to include at least two pieces in contrasting style (technical/legato) or one piece demonstrating these two styles
Scales-add all harmonic and melodic minor scales-full range of the instrument
General guidelines
Bring music for the faculty
Prepared music should be of increasing difficulty each semester
Faculty jury may ask student to perform anything else on the student’s list of the semester’s repertoire and technical work
Scales are always required
Sight reading is always required
