Stacey Houghton

     A graduate of Morrow High School, Stacey Houghton has resided and worked in the Atlanta area most of his life.  Mr. Houghton earned a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree from Valdosta State University, where he studied jazz and classical saxophone with Bob Greenhaw.  He obtained his MM degree in jazz performance at the University of South Carolina, where he served as Graduate Teaching Assistant in the jazz program.  He has studied saxophone with Roger Pemberton, jazz improvisation with John Serry, clarinet with Doug Graham, and flute with Dr. Constance Lane.                               

     Mr. Houghton has been a professional musician in the Atlanta area since 1992, and he continues to maintain a successful private teaching studio of woodwind instruments and jazz studies.  He has been a regular member of the teaching faculty at the Georgia Academy of Music since 1997.  He has performed with such notable artists as Diane Schuur, Dr. John, Marian McPartland, and the Ray McKinley Orchestra.  Mr. Houghton frequently serves as clinician, guest soloist, and composer/arranger for many school jazz ensembles of all levels.  He currently serves on the faculty of Clayton State University as an instructor of jazz studies.
