Assignments For
MATH 1231 Online Homework problems assigned below are from the textbook Intro Stats, by DeVeaux & Velleman. Each assignment must be delivered to me by midnight on the assigned date. Since you are not required to attend campus (but you can drop it off if that is convenient for you), alternate arrangements for two of the assignments are as follows: Homeworks 1 & 3 are to be completed with paper and pencil and dropped off at my office, OR mailed to my office address (postmarked by due date), OR written up using Word (if you email, YOU MUST FOLLOW THE FORMATTING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW) and emailed me to by midnight on the due date. For Homework 2 (midterm) and Homework 4 (final exam), BRING THE HOMEWORK to campus with you. I will NOT print Homework 2 or 4 if you send them by email. You must bring paper copies to the tests. YOU MUST SHOW WORK WHEN APPROPRIATE (some problems just ask you to think about something and answer - you can't show work here. But if a problem asks you to draw some sort of conclusion from the data, I MUST see your graph and/or statistics to determine if you have done the problem correctly). The assigned problems are available from the Chapter Notes in WebCT. All homework problems correspond to questions in the TEXTBOOK - not the CD.
Keep in mind that I am printing this for you and I won't waste paper. So, do all these steps or I will return it to you and send you back to these instructions. 1. Remove auto numbering 2. Do NOT retype the question nor list the assigned problems. 3. Change the page settings so your margins are AT MOST one inch on all four sides (they can be smaller which puts more text on each page) 4. If the question doesn't have parts a, b, etc. then put the answer on the same line as the question number (resist the urge to spread all this over extra paper). 5. Single space within all parts of a question and double space between each question. 6. Do NOT use headers or footers or page breaks or anything that makes the document longer. (Again, resist the urge to spread all this over extra paper.)
