The process of charging an object involves transfer of either positive or negative charges. You can give an object  a positive charge by adding to it certain amount of positively charged particles (protons, for example)  in which case the total mass of the object will increase, or removing certain amount of negative charges (electrons, for example) in which case the total mass of the object will decrease.
