                  Given:

x0 = 0,  y0 = 0.455 m, y = 0 (assuming that the origin of your coordinate system is located at the ground level)

q0 = 60.5o 

V0 = 2.62 m/s                

                  Find: (a) t -  ?

 

Vx0 = V0 cos(q0) = (2.62 m/s) cos(60.5o) = 1.29 m/s

Vy0 = V0 sin(q0) = (2.62 m/s) sin(60.5o) = 2.28 m/s

 y = y0 + V0yt – ½ g t2

0 = y0  + V0yt – ½ g t2

 

½ g t2 - V0yt - y0 = 0

t = (V0y + (V0y2 - 4 (½ g)(- y0))1/2 )/(2 ( ½ g) )

t = (V0y + (V0y2 + 2 g y0)1/2 )/g

t = 0.616 s

                            (b) x - ?

x = x0 + Vx0 t

x = 0.795 m
