PHYS 1112 - Introductory Physics II
Lesson 11 - Magnetism I

Study Assignment:

Study: Chapter 22, Sections 22.1 - 22.2

Lesson notes:

In this lesson, we will begin our study of magnetic fields and their effects.

Objectives:

1. Know that magnetic phenomena are the result of the motion of electric charge(s).

2. Understand how the magnetic field is defined.

3. Be able to use the right hand rule to determine the direction of the force on a moving charged particle or current in a magnetic field.

4. Be able to calculate the force on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field.

Vocabulary:

poles
tesla
gauss
