Students frequently have questions about the multiple choice quizzes on WebCT.
The purpose of these quizzes--usually open book with a generous time limit--is to verify that students are reading the required book.
Before you contact me about a quiz, reread the question and possible answers carefully. If you still have a doubt, send an email. .Occasionally errors have gotten into the test bank, so it is perfectly all right to ask about a quiz that seems incorrectly graded to you.
The quizzes draw on a large "test bank" of questions. WebCT pulls a unique set of questions for each individual quiz. No two students receive the same combination of questions. For this reason, when you contact me to ask about a question, you should copy/paste or quote the question itself. If you identify the problem question only by number, I must look up your quiz to find out which question is the problem, which adds to the time it takes to solve your problem.
Whenever you write to inquire about a question include the following information in the body of your message:
| Your name | |
| Your class time | |
| The number or title of the quiz | |
| The wording of the question and the answer choices. You probably can use copy/paste to do this. | |
| A description of your problem or doubt. | |
| Pertinent page numbers in the book, if you have them. |
Any question that required you to type in a response may need to be hand graded by me. This will take time. When the grading is completed on your quiz, the grade will display, so "Have you graded it?" emails will waste your time and mine.
