Choose one topic and prepare an 8-10 minute dialog that you and your partner(s) will act out. Make it 12-14 minutes if you are 3 people in a group. You may use cue cards in English to help you present your dialog.

1. Dans un restaurant....

You play the role of a waiter/waitress and a customer.  You are very hungry and thirsty.  It is a hot afternoon but you do not know what to order.  The waiter/waitress offers you some appetizers and drinks.  Later, you ask for some items that are not listed on the menu but the waiter is not familiar with these very common American dishes because he/she is from another country, so you describe the ingredients.  Eventually, you accept some of the dishes he/she proposes.  He/she offers you some deserts and you ask him/her to describe them.  Finally, you are ready to pay and ask for the check.  You pay, tip and ask him/her for a date because of his/her beauty and personality.

2. Chercher un camarade de chambre...

You have just received a phone call to your recent ad on the newspaper about the wanted roommate for your apartment.  You are a very quiet and responsible person looking for the same profile in the possible candidate.  Both of you agree to have an interview at your place so you can meet each other in person and he/she can also take a look at your place.  You ask each other questions about your lifestyle, likes & dislikes, daily routine including the weekends, eating habits, favorite music, pets, friends/boy-girlfriend and, personality.  You want to make sure that he/she will be responsible for paying on time his/her bills.  Basically you (each other) want to find out if you are compatible to live in and share the same space.

3. Un voyage fabuleux

Two friends call one another and discuss the trips they each took on their vacations. Talk about when you went. Describe the weather, the places you went, what you did, what you and other people wore, the things you saw, the things you ate, what your experience in the airport and hotel was like. Use specific countries and cities around the world.

4. A la pharmacie

You are a parent. Your child is very sick and so are you, but your symptoms are different. Go the pharmacy and describe your symptoms to the pharmacist who will diagnose the problem and prescribe the medicine you need. Find out from the pharmacist where you can buy some good bread in the neighborhood, too.
