Community Leadership ForumThe Clayton Collaborative Authority was created during the 1990s by an act of the Georgia General Assembly and charged with the task of providing opportunities for individuals and public and private organizations to share their vision and to stimulate cooperative efforts addressing county-wide issues. In response to this charge, the Collaborative established the Community Leadership Forum.
On the second Friday of each month, the Collaborative and the Department of Social Science at Clayton State University sponsors a presentation by an established or emerging community leader. Each presentation in the Forum series is designed to heighten awareness of resources, initiatives, and innovations throughout Clayton County as well as the larger metro community. All presentations are held in the University Center at Clayton State and are free and open to the public.
Previous presenters have included representatives from Clayton/Henry/Fayette DFCS, the Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity, Calvary Refuge Center homeless shelter, Clayton County Juvenile Court, Clayton County's Police Department, New Birth South Community Impact Center, Hearts to Nourish Hope youth programs, Metro Atlanta Gang Prevention, and Clayton County Parks & Recreation.
The complete list of presenters for 2008-2009 is currently under development. Suggestions of possible speakers and/or topics should be sent to sharrison@clayton.edu
The next presentation is scheduled for Fri., Sept. 12, from 12:00-12:55. Kaffie McCullough from the organization A Future Not a Past, cosponsored by the Atlanta Women's Foundation and the Juvenile Justice Fund, will speak on The Prostitution of Children: A Community Issue.
