By AARP's definition, I'm a senior citizen (yeah, right!). Morning person. Native Southerner who adores the Appalachian mountains. I think in a previous life I must've been a tree. Credentials: Master's degree in Psychology (Indiana University); Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Emory University)--which means that I just can't decide what I want to do when I grow up. Most of my adult life I've worked in a college environment. Recently, I've found myself really interested in graphic design. Travel: Have lived in Georgia, Indiana, and Texas, traveled over most of the North American continent, and spent time in Mexico and Bolivia. I like being spontaneous when going some place--like stopping by the side of the road to smell sweet clover in Nebraska or visiting the stockyards in Oklahoma City. |
I believe that God is present in every moment of our lives and that we are blessed beyond measure when we seek the leading of the Spirit. If I had to summarize the purpose of my life on this planet, it is "to delight the heart of God." I think I do this most when I am grateful--for friends, for meaningful work, and for beauty all around me in the flowers, sky, and stars. I think I also delight God's heart when I do loving things for others. My value system is best summed up in the tune, Simple Gifts. |

Carolina wrens, public television, cool weather, wildflowers, sunrise, Irish music, mountain streams, wearing blue jeans and tennis shoes, Boston, Hershey's chocolates, and my tender-hearted son. A poem whose glorious imagery particularly touches me is Spender's I Think Continually of Those. |
