The application deadlines are typically in early October. You should start preparing your application several months ahead of time. You will need letters of recommendation from faculty as well as Veterinarians with whom you have worked. Some faculty are not available over the summer months so you probably want to ask them for letters before they leave for the summer. You need to give everyone at least 2 or 3 weeks to write your letter.

You typically have until December to submit your scores. The UGA vet school requires the GRE and the GRE Biology subject test, along with the analytical writing test. Most schools will use your highest score on these tests. It doesn't hurt to take it more than once especially if you are unhappy with your first score. See the GRE website for dates and details on the exams (click here).

Yes, but it is much more difficult. After you complete the minimum requirements for vet school (see below) then you should apply to veterinary school. But you should also plan to continue to work toward your BS in biology just in case you don't make it (which is a great possibility).

You mean you haven't started already? It is extremely important that you have lots of animal experience and you get exposure to a variety of different experiences (large and small animal procedures). You need to prove to the veterinary school application committee that you really want to be a vet, that you have a realistic idea of what veterinarians do and that you have experience. Most vet schools will require a letter of recommendation from a licensed veterinarian with whom you have worked. This letter is important! Students who typically are accepted to vet school start volunteering or working in a vet clinic in high school. If you have not started already then GET STARTED NOW! At CSU you can get credit for your volunteer and/or work experience with veterinarians. You must see Dr. Kodani to work out the details and to sign up for BIOL 3222. BIOL 3222 can count in the biology core and in the Pre-Vet area of emphasis of the biology curriculum.
