Lab 8 background

An important thing to understand in this lab is that oxygen is produced in photosynthesis.

If the leaf discs float, then they have oxygen and photosynthesis occurred.

If the leaf discs do not float, then there is no oxygen and photosynthesis did not occur.

What you will do in this lab is make small discs of the leaf.

Then you will remove the oxygen.

The discs will be placed into 3 dishes.  Then you will place one dish in the dark, one in the light and one in the intense light.

You will then count the number of floating discs.  These are the discs that produced oxygen and underwent photosynthesis.
