Attendance will be taken at the beginning of class. If you
are late, you will not get the attendance points for that lab.
If you miss the lab practical with a valid excuse given to
Dr. Norflus within one week, your grade on the other practical will count
twice. You may only miss one lab practical. If you do not have a valid excuse,
you will get a grade of 0.
Each lab report will count as 10%. If you have a valid excuse for not attending the lab, the other lab report will count twice. If you attending the lab, but are not in class the day it is due, you will need to turn in the lab report when you return to school or it will be counted as late. You may only miss one lab report. If you do not have a valid excuse, you will get a grade of 0. The late policy will be the same as the notebook late policy outlined in the syllabus.
You will be required to keep a
notebook throughout the semester. In this notebook, you will answer the pre-lab
objectives, the lab objectives and include any data not included in the lab
reports. These notebooks will be checked twice during the semester (unless it
is clear that students are not recording in their lab notebooks and then the
policy will be changed). The first notebook check will be the day of the first
lab practical. You will turn in your notebook and it will be returned to you
the following week. The second notebook check will be the day of the second lab
practical.
You MUST turn in your notebook at the beginning of class. DO NOT forget it in your car or you will get a 0. You may not turn it in late unless you have a valid excuse for missing the lab practical. Then, you MUST hand it in during the next meeting of the class or you will get a grade of 0.
Your lab notebook will be graded as follows:
Completion and correctness of all requested items:

60 80% - 6 points
<60% - 3 points
not turned in 0 points
