There are a number of vocabulary words relating to this unit that you should learn

You will need to know what makes an atom and what are the properties that these subatomic particles have

If you are given the atomic number and/or atomic weight, you should be able to determine how many protons, neutrons and electrons an atom has

You should know how atoms bind together

How many electrons can each electron shell hold?

You should learn the difference between ionic and covalent bonds and when each might occur.

What are the different types of covalent bonds?

What is the difference between the structural and molecular formulas?

What are isomers?

What are isotopes?

What is the pH scale and what constitutes and acid, a base and something that is neutral?
