0 semester credit hours, but required for graduation.

Catalog Description:

CHEM 4999A:  The purposes of this class are to assess the chemistry degree program and to assist students in seeking employment or further schooling. Students are required to attend three class meetings. Students will participate in a seminar on how to prepare for job searches and graduate and/or professional school. Students will complete a series of surveys to assess the quality of the chemistry degree program. Students will take a standardized subject test in chemistry to assess their content knowledge. Students will also participate in an individually scheduled senior exit interview.

CHEM 4999B:  The purposes of this class are to assess the chemistry degree program and to assist students in seeking employment or further schooling. Students are required to attend two class meetings. Students will participate in a seminar on how to prepare for job searches and graduate and/or professional school. Students will complete a series of surveys to assess the quality of the chemistry degree program. Students will also participate in an individually scheduled senior exit interview.  

Course Prerequisites:

CHEM 3411 with a minimum US grade of D and
CHEM 3412 with a minimum US grade of D and
CHEM 4202 with a minimum US grade of D and
CHEM 4811 with a minimum US grade of D (can be taken concurrently)

This class should be taken the final semester prior to graduation.

Computer Requirement:

Each CSU student is required to have ready access throughout the semester to a notebook computer that meets faculty-approved hardware and software requirements for the student's academic program. The purpose of this course is to collect data to asses the program learning outcomes for the Chemistry degree. There are no program or course outcomes for this course.

The mandatory class meetings for CHEM 4999A and CHEM 4999B are listed below.  Times for these meetings will be arranged by the Instructor during the first week of the semester and communicated to the students enrolled in the courses.

Bring a pencil or two. Plan to be at the testing center for up to 3 hours for the test. If you miss the test you will be unable to graduate as you will receive an unsatisfactory grade. 

Chemistry Test

Check the duck to see if you are signed up for CHEM 4999A or 4999B.  If you are signed up for 4999B then you do not need to take the Chemistry Test

Completion of the ALL of the following: Emailing Dr. Clower with Chemistry Test time preference and Exit Interview time preference, and completing the Chemistry Test, Exit Interview and surveys.  Completion of the ALL of the following: Emailing Dr. Clower with Exit Interview time preference, and completing the Exit Interview and surveys. 

U (Unsatisfactory)

Neglecting to complete ALL of the following: Emailing Dr. Clower with Chemistry Test time preference and Exit Interview time preference, and completing the Chemistry Test, Exit Interview and surveys.  Neglecting to complete ALL of the following: Emailing Dr. Clower with Exit Interview time preference, and completing the Exit Interview and surveys.  

Mid-term Progress Report:
