Chapter Objectives - Chapter 18: Geothermal Energy

Lesson notes:

Geothermal energy is derived from the heat produced within the Earth's interior. This chapter is the last of the course that induces new material.

Objectives:

1. Be able to describe the origin and types of geothermal energy.

2. Be able to explain why geothermal energy is considered to be a low-grade energy source.

3. Be able to discuss the environmental impacts of using geothermal energy.

Vocabulary:

magma
tectonic plates
hydrothermal systems
wet and dry steam systems
geopressurized reservoirs
hot dry rock

Homework:

TQ: 18-1, 18-2, 18-3, 18-5
