Title

(The title should reflect the content of the paper, not the writing style--no underlining or bold, and usually no quotes)

Tab over 5 spaces and begin typing.  Use 12-point font and a legible type style.  Times New Roman  or Arial is always a good choice.  Double-space your paper unless your instructor says otherwise.  Do not skip extra lines between paragraphs, between your information and your title, or between your title and the paper.  Set your margins (Page Layout, Margins) at 1 inch all around.  If you paper is longer than 1 page, put your last name and the page number in the upper right corner and begin numbering on page 1.  Use the Insert feature on your computer to do this.  If your paper or your headings have extra spaces, select the document and go to the Line Spacing icon on the Word toolbar (three lines with an arrow at top and bottom).  If you see a "remove extra space before...."  or  "remove extra space after ...." message under the spacing settings, click one or both to reset your spacing default for that paper.
