Music Composition at Clayton State University

The Music Composition concentration is designed for students who have a strong interest in writing music and wish to compose professionally or pursue graduate studies in Music Composition.  Students in this degree could desire a career as a composer or arranger, as a college/university professor, or as a combination of teacher and composer.

Students who wish to pursue composition studies at Clayton State audition on their major instrument or voice.  A portfolio of previous compositions is helpful but not required.  Composition lessons typically begin in the sophomore year.

Music Composition is a highly competitive and highly rewarding field.  We are looking for dedicated students with a passion for writing music to join our program.  Scholarships are available.
