Welcome to the Department of Music

Clayton State is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. In a few short years, the baccalaureate program in music at Clayton State has developed a reputation for excellence. Students pursuing a bachelor's degree may concentrate their studies in Music Education, Composition, or Performance through the Bachelor of Music degree or may create an area of emphasis within the liberal arts B.A. degree.

• Our Performance concentration offers a choice of emphasis in either Instrumental Performance, Vocal Performance, or Keyboard Performance.
• Our Composition concentration includes training in writing music for acoustic instruments and electronic mediums.
• Our Music Education concentration allows for specialization in Vocal/General or Instrumental music education. Music Education majors work towards earning Georgia certification in Music P-12.
• The Bachelor of Arts degree in Music allows students to tailor their courses of study to best suit their interests within the context of a liberal arts degree.
• All music majors have access to free tickets to performances and master classes in the University's highly regarded Spivey Hall. Majors also have opportunities to perform in the hall.
