Description of the Course and Goals:

This graduate seminar surveys Contemporary Art in the United States from 1940 to the present and examines aesthetic, historical, cultural, psychological, and other issues relating to art history. We will study various critical approaches to these masterworks.

Goals: Through discussions, readings, and a range of writing assignments, students will gain tools to develop a proficiency in analyzing and understanding works of Contemporary Art in the U.S. since 1940.
