Submissions

The Ellen Glasgow Journal of Southern Women Writers welcomes submissions of scholarly essays on any aspect of southern literature, especially those related to texts and contexts of southern women writers from the late nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries. The journal also welcomes articles on male southern writers, especially essays that address issues of gender, culture and/or race. Essays on neglected southern writers of any period are of interest as well as articles on the critical reception or critical history of southern texts.

Authors of accepted essays are required to become members of the Ellen Glasgow Society in order to be published in the journal. Please see Membership and Subscriptions for details.

Articles should be between 2500 and 7000 words in length and should conform to MLA guidelines; please follow the MLA Style Manual. Submissions should be sent electronically as email attachments to the Managing Editor, Amy Berke, amy.berke@maconstate.edu. If sent by snail mail, please include four copies of your submission. Because the journal observes a blind reading policy, the author’s name should not appear on any copies; use a separate title sheet (the author’s name will appear on the title sheet only). If mailing the submission, send to the managing editor:
