CHEM 3224: Introductory Research
This course is a supervised introductory research experience
with Chemistry faculty at Clayton State University. Students
must articulate clear project goals and objectives. Students
will learn to demonstrate use of scientific literature, and
document their progress using a research notebook. The project
will be summarized
in a written research paper and an oral presentation to the
department faculty. Students will be assigned a grade for this
course based on evaluation by the supervisor and other CSU
faculty.

CHEM 3224 Eligibility:
- Complete all course prerequisites, CHEM 1212/1212L with a grade of C or better.
- Complete at least one full semester at CSU.
- GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Obtain prior approval from your faculty research mentor.
Note: Faculty mentors reserve the right to establish higher minimum requirements.
CHEM 3224 Enrollment:
1) Download and print the syllabus for CHEM 3224.
2) Print and complete the CHEM 3224 Faculty Sponsor Form and the Internship Learning Agreement in conjunction with your chemistry faculty mentor. Typically, you have to discuss the learning objectives with them.
3) Have the faculty research mentor sign the completed Faculty Sponsor Form. Have the CHEM3224 coordinator sign the Internship Learning Agreement, and return both forms to Dr. Michelle Furlong so that she may register you for CHEM 3224.
