Computer Lab with Microsoft WordŽ
The University is committed to instructional technology in its classes. Chemistry requires a fundamental knowledge of not only the computer operating system, but also some word processing using Microsoft WordŽ and the use of spread sheets using Microsoft ExcelŽ.
To help you become familiar with these two products, Chemistry has included two laboratory exercises which are designed to help you learn some fundamental knowledge of each of these products.
This laboratory deals with Microsoft WordŽ. The format will be to attempt several exercises in a classroom setting as the instructor guides you through certain steps. Then you will attempt a homework assignment which will be submitted and graded as part of this laboratory.
To be prepared, you should download certain files to your computer for use in the laboratory in the event that internet access is not available at that time. Perhaps you should create a Laboratory directory on your C drive and download the files there for easy access.
Part 1: Practice with Microsoft WordŽ. Download: Microsoft WordŽ Practice Sheet
Part 2: Your Homework Assignment. Download: Word Lab Assignment and Ira Remsen Investigates Nitric Acid
Nothing except the downloading needs to be performed before the actual lab. Good luck and if any problems occur, let your instructor know.
