PHYS 2211 -
Principles of Physics I
Lesson 8 - Two-Dimensional Motion III: Uniform Circular Motion
Study Assignment:
Chapter 4, Sections 4.4 to 4.5
Lesson notes:
During this lesson, we will introduce uniform circular motion.
Objectives:
1. Be able to describe uniform circular motion in terms of the magnitude and direction of a particle's velocity and acceleration.
2. Be able to calculate the magnitude of the centripetal acceleration of a particle given its speed.
Vocabulary:
uniform circular motion
centripetal or radial acceleration
tangential acceleration
