x0 = 0,  y0 = 9.00 m, x = 3.50 m, y = 0 (assuming that the origin of your coordinate system is located at the ground level)

q = 0

Find:         v0

Physics:    projectile motion

Solve:

vox = v0 cosq = v0

v0y = v0 sinq = 0 m/s  

Finding the time of flight:

y = y0 + v0yt – ½ g t2

0 = y0  – ½ g t2

y0 =  ½ g t2

t2=  2 y0 /g

t =  (2 y0 /g)1/2

t = 1.35 s

Now let's look at the motion in x direction:

x = x0 + v0x t

x = v0 t

v0 = x /t = (3.50 m)/(1.35 s) = 2.59 m/s
